Open Churches...

Open Minds...

This part of the project is all about

  • Opening our churches to schools and children
  • Promoting church buildings as educational resources
  • Opening young people's minds to history, customs, traditions, lifestyles and beliefs
  • Facilitating their visit to their local church with quality educational materials
  • Relating to schools and being relevant to the curriculum
  • Enabling you to present these materials - even if you don't usually work with children

Church buildings are fascinating!

For centuries the church has been at the centre of its community. So there is much that children and young people can learn from them about history, customs, traditions, lifestyles and beliefs.

We believe their visit to a church (or churches) will be even better if they are welcomed in by members of the congregation.

The education strand of the Church History & Open Churches Project developed a pack of materials to enable churches to do just that! Written by a team of experienced teachers specifically to tie in with the school curriculum, this resource offer something that:

  • Will be useful to the school
  • Is in a format that you can present – even if you don't usually work with children
  • And will help to open our churches to schools and children.

In addition to the Primary Pack we now have a large range of extra resources available, including:

and much more...
