“Below, low tomb recess with segmental arch; centered above this, small niche under ogee arch for use in *Depositio; flanking niche in either side, 2 small panels with ogee cusped heads, each containing relief of sleeping soldier; these wearing chain mail, sleeveless surcoats, & basinets & having spears and heart shaped shields charged with grotesque faces; faces hacked away, except for one whose helmet covers his face; above central niche, steeply pointed gable with spiral crockets & finial; standing on finial of lower arch, risen Christ; he blesses with R hand, holds long cross- staff with banner in L; wounds in side and feet visible; below him, 2 angels with censers; half figures with folded hands serve as stops at lower corners of gable; painting modern; 14c.”
