St Michael

Churchyard

The church was set on a corner plot, part of which was already occupied by the mission building erected in 1884. If the full design had been implemented the building would have occupied a large part of the site. This was not the case, but for many years it was planned to complete the building when funds were available.

The southern part of the churchyard was eventually used for recreational purposes, with the construction of a bowling green and a tennis court. A corrugated iron building for use as the girl’s toilet was also built.

There is no evidence of any burials in the churchyard.
