St George

Monuments and Memorials

In the Lady Chapel set between the three widows on the south wall are two memorials, one is of brass and commemorates the relationship of St. George’s with the Society of the Sacred Mission. The inscription reads:

In thanksgiving for the life of
Fr. LEWES WARD-ANDREWS
and all other brethren of
THE SOCIETY OF
THE SACRED MISSION
who served this parish
1911 - 1982

The other is of white marble with a framed styled border. It has a gold chalice in the top left corner and reads:

AD GLORIAM DEI
IN EIVS VOLVNTATI
THIS CHAPEL IS DEDICATED
IN MEMORY OF
JAMES DAVENPORT KELLY
PRIEST AND OF
MARGARET ALICE KELLY
HIS WIFE WHO WERE
CALLED HOME 1912
MAY THEY REST IN PARADISE

Hung on the walls of the south and north aisles is the framed Stations of the Cross; each has a Memorial dedication below it with the name of an individual. No dates are shown.
