Prebends of North Muskham

The prebend of (North) Muskham was probably founded by Archbishop Thomas II of York (1109-1114) and was worth £40 in 1291 and £31 9 5½d in 1547; the prebend of South Muskham was founded by Archbishop Geoffrey c. 1204 from the larger prebend of (North) Muskham. (cf. Visitations, pp. 156-7 for some details but it is, however, also argued in Visitations, p. 157 n. c, that North Muskham may have been one of the original (?seven) prebends of Southwell already existing by Domesday.)
