Maplebeck St Radegund

Stonework

The greyish stone of church and surrounding wall was probably quarried in the village. It is Triassic sandstone of the Keuper series, widely known as Skerry. The yellow stone used on some of the responds in the interior is probably Permian Magnesian Limestone (Dolomitic Limestone from the Mansfield area) or Jurassic Lincolnshire Limestone.
