Detail

The east window was made by Burlison & Grylls. This window and Windows 2 and 13 are early examples of their work.

The window shows 'the Crucifixion, flanked by Our Lady and St. John, with Saints Peter & Paul; below, St. Michael is flanked by the Evangelists, and below again, five predellae in a free rendition of scenes from Durer's Small Passion cycle.'

It was the gift of the Duke of Portland and was installed in 1871.

The stained glass is badly faded.

South Chapel

The window is by Burlison & Grylls. It depicts 'Old and New Testament types of Christ's death and resurrection - the scene of Jonah tossed overboard is clearly based on the 16thC Miracles of St. Nicholas cycle at Hillesden (Bucks.).'

The stained glass is badly faded.

South Aisle

The window is in memory of Richard Greenhalgh, who died on 30 June 1860, and his wife, Sarah, who died on 25 December 1871.

The inscription along the bottom of the window reads:

June 30th 1860

To the glory of God & in loving memory of Richard & Sarah Greenhalgh by their daughter Anne

The window commemorates William and Hannah Dickons who died in 1856 and 1871 respectively.

It depicts Christ flanked by Moses and Elias.

The inscription along the bottom of the window reads:

To the glory of God & in memory of her Father and Mother, William and Hannah Dickons who died 1856 & 1851
Aged 85 & 75 respectively and of her Brothers and Sisters, this window is placed by Maria Dickons 1889

The window is in memory of Emma Pavey (1837-1889), wife of the Rev Canon Alfred Pavey, vicar of Mansfield. The subject is 'Suffer little children to come unto me.'

The inscription along the bottom of the window reads:

To the Glory of God and in memory of Emma Pavey, born Jan; 7th 1837, died Aug 19th 1889, this window was placed by Canon Pavey
Vicar of Mansfield and Rural Dean, her husband, and by Rev: Alfred Katenbeck Pavey, M.A. and Margaret & Emma Pavey, her children

The window at the west end of the south aisle depicts the Massacre of the Innocents.

Tower

7.The small window in the west wall of the tower represents the dove of peace.

The inscription reads:

North Aisle

The Millennium Window was dedicated by the Bishop of Southwell on New Year’s Eve 1999.

It shows Christ above the town of Mansfield.

The window is in memory of John Parker and depicts St Laurence.

The inscription states:

In memory of John Parker
Churchwarden 1871-2

There is no inscription or maker's mark.

The window is in memory of Sophia Blacker and shows scenes from the life of St Paul.

The inscription along the bottom of the window reads:

To the glory of God and in memory of Sophia Blacker, this window was placed by her daughter, Mary, 1902.

The window commemorates James H. Blake, a mayor of Mansfield who died in 1909. It depicts Saint Aidan, St Gregory and Augustine of Canterbury and was installed in 1912.

The inscription along the bottom of the window reads:

Giving thanks to God for the beloved memory of James Henry Blake, J.P. Alderman twice Mayor of Mansfield &
a sidesman of this Church. At rest Nov. 5th 1909 aged 59 years: this window is dedicated by Ellen his widow A.D. 1912.

It depicts Nativity scenes in 16th century Anglo-Flemish style.
