Glass

Fifty-seven fragments of painted window glass, mainly from the area of the south aisle, were found during the excavations. The glass is 2.2-3mm thick, totally opaque and black due to corrosion. The paint is bright red and might originally have been quite bright. The designs fall into four categories: naturalistic (wild fowl, buds, flowers and foliage); curvilinear (sweeping abstract designs and decorative borders); geometrical (mainly straight lines and segments of circles); architectural (based on Gothic window designs).
