Key to Monuments

With the exception of the very worn incised alabaster slab of a knight and his lady propped up under the tower there are no monuments or effigies in the church, but there are a number of memorial tablets on the walls.

North Aisle

1.White marble plaque on the north wall.

2.Grey and white marble rectangle with oval white M.I. plate on the west wall of the choir by the north aisle.

WHO DIED AT BAWTRY
FEBY 8TH 1805.
AGED 38 YEARS.

 

3.White plaque on the wall of the choir into the south transept.

Beneath this monument is interred the 
body of JOHN FOSS of Bawtry who died
March 22nd 1778 in the 60th year of his age
Also near him his three sons
CHRISTOPHER, WILLIAM & SAMUEL
who all died in infancy

11.White marble plaque (the mason was Clayton of Doncaster) on the south wall of the nave.

LATE OF AUSTERFIELD IN THE COUNTY OF YORK.
WHO DIED THE 30TH APRIL 1802,
AGED 38 YEARS

ALSO OF MARTHA, HIS WIFE,
WHO DIED THE 19TH OCTOBER 1843,
AGED 72 YEARS.

IN AFFECTIONATE AND GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE
OF THEIR WORTH
THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY
THEIR ONLY CHILD.
