Station 8 Station 10

Along the walls of the aisles, nave and chancel are fourteen sculptured plaques depicting the Stations of the Cross.

Chancel

The frontal on the east-end altar was created by textile artist Juliet Hemingway of Derby in 1997.

The wooden reredos and panelling around the east end walls dates from c.1899.

The Blessed Virgin Mary and Christ Child sculpture was created by Zacharia Bros Bethlehem; a small plaque on the base reads:

IN THE SIGHT OF GOD
THIS GIFT IS DEDICATED TO

OLIVE BEAUMONT 1913-1993

IN RECOGNITION OF HER CHRISTIAN SERVICE

AND TO HER DEVOTED HUSBAND ARTHUR 1907-1995

FROM THEIR FAMILY WITH GRATITUDE.

Nave

The Christus from the Flames figure by sculptor Peter Eugene Ball of Newark is fixed to the east wall of the nave above the chancel arch. Made in 1998 using salvaged timbers from the church and designed to be similar to the larger version in Southwell Minster.

The eagle from the C19th lectern survived the 1996 fire, and has been incorporated in the new lectern/pulpit.

The 1878 font in its new position after the 1997 restoration, showing the area for adult baptism to the side.

A 'plague stone' dating from the early 17th century is situated near the south door and is now used as a stoup for holy water; it was originally set in the churchyard wall and contained vinegar into which villagers dropped money to pay for food stored at the church

South Aisle
