Collingham St John the Baptist

Churchyard

The northern part
of the churchyard
The western part
of the churchyard

The churchyard is approximately trapezoidal in shape, with the church heavily offset on the east side, close to the boundary. There is an extension area to the north of the church. The trapezoid closes towards the west end but once may have been wider, forming a rectangular shape, but that to the south side is now part of a private garden.

The principal entrance is on the south side but there is also a roadway leading to the north side along the eastern boundary.

Boundaries to the east are formed of the brick walls of adjacent properties. On the north and west the boundaries are of hedges and shrubs, and to the south is a brick wall dividing the adjacent property.

There are burials on all sides except the east, with the earliest to the south of the church.
